The Gallipolis City Schools Art Show and Gallery Hop began on Sunday April 6th. There were many students, parents, grandparents and community members in attendance. A new idea this year was the Gallery Hop. “Many local businesses along Second Avenue and Court Street graciously allowed us to display student art works in their store front windows,” stated Mr. Vigue, GAHS Art Teacher.
Some of these works will continue to be displayed at the old GC Murphy location for the remainder of the show.
The art work at the French Art Colony will remain until April 27 with gallery hours being 9-4 Tuesday--Thursday, 10-3 Saturday and 1-5 on Sundays. This exhibit features a wide range of art works including prints, sculptures, drawings and paintings from students in grades kindergarten through twelfth grade.
Art teachers for the Gallipolis City Schools are Ms. Lehanna Craft, Washington/GAMS, Mrs. Lolita Mullen, Rio and Green Elem., Ms. Terri Crothers GAMS and Mr. Michael Vigue, GAHS.
“We wish to thank the French Art Colony, especially Ms Lucia Colley for arranging the exhibit, as well as, all of the businesses for allowing us to display art work from our students,” expressed Mr. Vigue.
Photographs of the art displays can be viewed on the Gallia Academy Middle School web-page.
