My name is Roger Mace, and I am privileged to be your new superintendent. This is an exciting time to be a part of the Gallipolis City School District, and I look forward to leading the district through the next phases of change. My journey to get here has been great thus far.
I obtained my Bachelor of Science degree from Ohio University in 1988 and my Masters Degree in Educational Administration from Ohio University in 1999. I obtained additional graduate work and my Superintendent degree through Ashland University in 2003.
I began my teaching career with the Logan-Hocking Local School District in 1989 and continued there through 1999. In 1999-2000, I served as the Assistant HS Principal and Athletic Director at Belpre High School. The following year, I was given the opportunity to become the Principal at Belpre High School and remained in that position until relocating to Bloom- Carroll Local School District where I was hired as the Assistant HS Principal in 2002. In 2003, I was fortunate to have been hired as the Bloom-Carroll HS Principal, a position I held until January, 2007, when the Board of Education gave me the opportunity to become the Superintendent.
Now, as I am the superintendent of Gallipolis City Schools, you will see a leader who has a philosophy of three main components: Commitment, Collaboration, and Communication. I believe strongly that if you are true to those three elements, you will never lose sight of your goal and while there may be a few side trips before you get to your destination, you will eventually attain your objectives and reach your goals of success. Teamwork is the key element to every successful organization. There is no me, you, or I---we all Work Together!
With that being said, the three main objectives we will be working toward are aligning the curriculum in grades Pre-K-12, collaborating with the staff to improve and ensure that our students obtain a quality education and to increase student achievement at all grade levels and always keeping in mind the importance of what really matters........."The Students!" I have high expectations for myself and will set high expectations for the staff, students and other school personnel. We will move the district forward by working together as a team and involving the community.
I will be visible throughout the district and the community and I sincerely look forward to meeting and working with each and every one of you in the years ahead. We can all make a difference- in the life of a child, co-worker, a community. If we all work together; if we keep pushing toward our goals and objectives, "We can make a Difference!"
Again, it is a blessing and privilege to be leading this school district as it has had great success in the past years. The best is yet to come!
