The Gallipolis City School District was included in what the Dept. of Homeland Security is referring to as a swatting/hoax threat that is being distributed to hundreds of school districts across the United States on Sunday, December 10, 2023. The bomb threat identified only one school building in Gallia County, which was Gallia Academy High School.
The Gallipolis City School District has been in contact with the Gallia County Sheriff's Office along with the FBI which has confirmed the assessment that they believe the threat is a hoax. However, out of an abundance of caution, law enforcement, including an explosives detection K9, has completed a complete sweep of Gallia Academy High School and it was found to be safe and secure. Law Enforcement will continue to monitor Gallia Academy High School along with all of the school buildings throughout Gallia County and there will be an enhanced presence of law enforcement officers at Gallia Academy High School on Monday, December 11, 2023.
