Hi and welcome to my site! My name is Krystal Kay. I am 30 years old and married to my wonderful husband, John, for about five years now. I live in Point Pleasant, WV with my husband, beautiful 2 year old daughter, Katelyn, and two cats: Callie and Holly. We are currently expecting our second born child and he or she is due to arrive in August 2015! We are very excited! I am originally from Kenova, WV and I graduated from Spring Valley High School in 2003. I attended Marshall University and earned my BA in Elementary Education in 2007 and my MA in Literacy Education in December 2014. I have seven total years of experience teaching: 1 year as a graduate assistant teaching English and RTI to grades K-5, 1 year as a 1st grade teacher in the Wayne County, WV school district, 1 year as a long term sub and 4 years teaching 4th grade at Washington Elementary. This is currently my 1st year teaching math at the 5th grade level.
In my free time, I enjoy scrapbooking, reading, playing piano and guitar and singing. I also like spending time with my friends and family and attending as many WVU and Marshall football games as possible. I like both teams, but I bleed green! WE ARE ... MARSHALL!!!!! I also spend much of my free time volunteering at First Baptist Church of Gallipolis where I help lead worship during the morning service and serve as the worship team director for the youth group, work as a leader in the youth group, and teach VBS grades 4-6. I love my church family!
I look forward to getting to know each and everyone of my students and their familes this year. If you have any questions, comments, or concerns, feel free to send me an email, a note to school, call first, then stop by during my planning period (Mondays-Fridays 11:25-12:10pm), or call and leave me a message in the office.
