Transportation / Safety Department

Our Mission

The Transportation / Safety Department is committed to providing our students, faculty, staff and community with the safest, most secure transportation, working and learning enviornment as possible

Transportation

Operating with 16 full-time drivers, the Gallipolis City School District covers an area of 99.9 square miles.  Our buses traveled over 324,000 miles last year transporting students to athletic competitions, field trips and school events in addition to our normal busing routes.

The Transportation Department operates a maintenance garage with a staffing of 2 full-time mechanics to maintain the safety and efficiency of our bus fleet.

Safety &  Security

The safety and security of our students and staff is a paramount concern of the School Board and Administrative Staff.  Staff members consistently train in the proficiency of emergency procedures and evacuations.

Administrators work closely with federal, state and county officials to provide the safest most conducive learning environment for our students.

Lock Down Procedure - In the event that the District is notified by law enforcement of a threat or information is received that administration feels jeopardizes the safety of our students/staff, the building will be locked down. During a lock down, no one will be allowed access to or out of the building.  Parents and staff are reminded not to respond to the school or attempt to call the school secretary, staff or students; as doing so could jeopardize both your and their safety.
